Hi again,

Vivian here. Growing up between East Asia and North America, I approach the world with a cross-cultural lens that helps me understand things from unique perspectives. Observing, analyzing, and thinking critically about human behavior is one of my greatest strengths, and also a personal passion. I bring this mindset to my studies in Behavioral Neuroscience, as well as to my user research and design process as a product designer.

I first discovered UX through healthcare, where I worked closely with IVF patients. While I deeply connected with their struggles, I often felt powerless to fix the system itself. That frustration then fueled me to transition into UX design, to turn empathy into action and build solutions that address real pain points.

Since then, I’ve collaborated with startups across various industries. I’ve also led personal passion projects—from improving the IVF patient journey to making shelter pet adoption more intuitive. I design with meaningful purpose, and if you do too, you should work with me ;)

My Story to Design

01 Cross-Cultural Perspective 🌎

My perspective has been uniquely shaped by growing up between East Asia and North America. Now based in San Diego, I navigate design challenges through a distinctive lens that bridges cultural perspectives, enabling me to deeply understand diverse user needs and behaviors.

02 Neuroscience Foundation 🧠

My fascination with human behavior led me to a B.A. in Behavioral Neuroscience, where I studied how human brain interacts with the world— which honed my skills in observation and data-driven analysis: foundations that now shape my approach to user research and design.

03 Healthcare Journey 👼🏻

My path to UX design began unexpectedly in healthcare, where I worked directly with patients facing daily challenges. While my empathy connected me deeply to their struggles, I felt constrained by my inability to address the systemic issues that often went overlooked. This frustration sparked my transition into UX design – where I could channel my empathy into creating meaningful solutions.

04 The Design Era 🐥

Today, I've had the privilege of collaborating with 5 startups, crafting user experiences across dynamic spaces covering SaaS, AI, healthcare, creative arts & entertainment, enhancing user experience of innovative fields.

I am also a problem solver for real life pain points. I self directed projects that enhance patient experience of IVF, improve adoption experience of shelter animals, and open a new gateway to self-reflection.

I create and design products for passion. If you are too, reach out and let's create something extraordinary!

My life beyond work

Most of the time, I do ordinary stuff while not working. I journal for my future self, I listen to lo-fi music, I travel and I play badminton.

I draw occasionally. You will be able to look at some of my artwork when you scroll down.

Well, I love cats. I had the best cat in my life, his name is Bo (波仔 in Chinese). Say hi to Bo :)

My favorite quote: "What will help you is always your sensitivity, not your productivity."

Occasionally paints as a creative outlet

Is an empathetic listener - inspired by people’s joys and challenges

Loves live music, especially Jazz Pop, Neo Soul, and R&B

Plays badminton at least twice a week

Journals to capture and reflect on life’s moments
